Multi-Disciplined U.S. Air Force Leader Michael Newsom Joins System High as Vice President of Acquisitions and Operations

Chantilly, VA. – System High Corporation has announced recently retired Air Force Col. Michael “Bear” Newsom, has joined the organization as Vice President, Acquisitions and Operations. In this role, Mr. Newsom will leverage his nearly four decades of proven cyberspace, security, and mentoring expertise to continue System High’s deliverance of “beyond compliance” lifecycle protection services and solutions. He will collaborate with executive leadership and customers to deliver exceptional teams focused on strengthening critical systems and securing our nation’s most sensitive acquisition and operations and support missions within the Defense, Intelligence, and commercial communities.

Before joining System High in 2021, Mr. Newsom spent 39 years in the United States Air Force, with his last assignment as the Commander of the 737th Training Group at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland. His previous assignment included performing as the J9 Deputy Director, Current Capabilities, and Deputy CIO at U.S. CYBERCOM, where he led senior military and civilian leaders, joint officers/civilians, and contractors to meet CDRUSCYBERCOM C4 and operational cyber needs. Other assignments included serving as the Chief, Current Operations (J33) at CYBERCOM, leadership positions on the Air Staff, Joint Staff, and was also a Congressional Fellow. Mr. Newsom started his career in the Security Police field and mastered all traditional security disciplines as well as providing Personal Protection for the USAF Chief of Staff and performing as an AFOSI-PJ Program Security Officer supporting Special Access Programs under the Secretary of The Air Force.
